Spiritual Science

The posts begin by investigating what spiritual science is in connection with human nature. The historical development of spiritual science from Aristotle to Rudolf Steiner is outlined, punctuated by Galileo’s invention of ‘modern science’ in the seventeenth century. This distinguishes the holistic approach of spiritual science from that of natural science limited to the study of matter existing in space and changing over time.

Four questions are then examined from a metaphysical perspective. What is matter? What is life? What is consciousness? And what is human identity?

In due course two other subjects will be introduced that engage my attention. The first has to do with understanding how the local cosmos of our solar system was created. Scientific speculations on the origins of existence (such as the Big Bang) leave us with so many unanswered questions. If you believe in the existence of higher powers and angels then you might be interested in my approach that configures astrophysics and astronomy in a larger metaphysical framework. The work integrates the spiritual concept of ‘creation’ with the scientific one of ‘cosmos,’ eliminating the fracture of religious faith and science that runs through Western society. My revolutionary method relates the ‘days’ of creation to developmental stages in the formation of the solar system discovered by space scientists. This has nothing to do with the deadening literalism of ‘creation science’ promoted by Christian fundamentalists.

Another topic explores human procreation from the perspective of the incarnating human soul. The human being is pictured as a microcosm, that is, a miniature expression of the world as macrocosm. I combine spiritual-scientific principles with the findings of leading-edge biomedicine to map developmental processes related to genetics, male and female fertility, and embryology. The work discloses a symbolic level of meaning that runs through Genesis-Exodus, re-envisioning and personalizing one level of biblical creation as human procreation.
